Sustained investment is achieved through our Community Benefit Fund. We are investing £15 million in social and environmental projects for the 25 year lifetime of the Walney Extension project.
The fund sees £600,000 invested every year to support various projects in the local area.

Skills Fund
£100,000 of this fund is ring fenced for a Skills Fund which is focused on increasing the uptake of science and engineering in the fund’s benefit area.
In the first year, the Fund will support educational and training initiatives to help people within the area find work in engineering industries like offshore wind. These initiatives include:
- Hardship Fund for students struggling financially at colleges in the area around our wind farm.
- Additional engineering courses at Furness College.
- Support for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) projects in schools in Barrow-in-Furness through a Royal Academy of Engineering project.

West of Morecambe Fisheries Fund
£300,000 will go in the West of Morecambe Fisheries Fund is an independent, not-for profit UK company that fund Fishing Community Projects benefitting the local fishing industry through the provision of common equipment and training.
